Review # 1 was written on 2019-09-23 00:00:00 John Griffiths It's amazing what computer analysis shows. This book was written before that time and Stockfish found at least ten gross mistakes made by the annotator. Although you cannot always blame him for this, there were situations that felt a bit embarrassing. Luckily this does not deprive us of the pleasure Tal's audacious, and far sighted sacrifices often provides. The pleasure Tal himself derived from the game of chess is visible in almost everyone of the games shown. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-02-12 00:00:00 Matthew Rymill P H unfortunately comes off as rather a pompous type (an unheralded thing in a chess annotator!)--and this tends to detract from the proceedings. |
