Lots of new parenting material just focuses on the practical issues of taking care of a newborn, with emphasis on sensory and motor development. This book focuses more on feelings, the relationship you have with your baby. The rollercoaster of emotions that arise on becoming a new parent is not often talked about, particularly the difficult emotions that can arise like guilt, anger, jealousy etc. We in general only speak of sleep deprivation or exhaustion. The book has helped my self reflection, accepting and exploring the whole gamut of feelings in the wild ride, which in turn has made steering a steady course with a lot less anxiety possible.
