Review # 1 was written on 2018-07-28 00:00:00 Paul Maienza Is it well written? Sure. The grammar and pacing are acceptable. The content, however, is absolutely wretched. The entire premise of the book relies on the concept that every person who follows Islam inherently desires to harm others in the name of their religion. Throughout the book the author ignores realistic characterization, varied belief systems, the very core fundamentals of Islam, all to repeatedly cast followers of Islam as deceived ungodly people who will cast their violent religion away the moment they get a taste of the clearly pure and great Christianity. Without the above the plot would have been unsustainable and foiled immediately. The character development and arcs make little to no sense, and the one vaguely important female character is literally made a prize for the now "reformed" (as he left Islam for Christianity) protagonist. If you enjoy critical thinking, not being a bigot, and respecting other religions, give this one a wide berth.

Review # 2 was written on 2009-08-29 00:00:00 Chad Brinster What a good book! It is a total step apart from much of what I've been reading lately, but it is great. Identical twin brothers separated at birth, 1 raised in America as a Christian and 1 raised in Egypt as a Muslim. A plot to assassinate the president, take over the presidential office, mass murder and a lovely young lady caught in the middle of two brothers. I really appreciated the way the author shows the differences and similarities between Islam and Christianity as the brothers agree to read each others books (the Bible and Quaran) in an attempt to understand each other and appease the love of their lives, Layla. There may be a lot of coincidences in the storyline, but I just settled back and accepted them. In doing so I was really able to enjoy the book. I also really liked the fact that everything isn't tied up with a pretty little bow when it is all finished - bittersweet and beautiful. Excellent book.
