Yaoi mangas about relationships between mortals and other creatures are very common; the spectral, demonic or supernatural retains a continual allure and fascination for human beings. We can't get enough of them. Seeing them struggle to establish bonds with their human partners in spite of vast differences can make for extremely riveting entertainment in the hands of the truly gifted creator. Ms. Neko has created a love story of a rather different kind. In the very first installation of this series, she gives us a relationship between the demonic and the human that is already established'at least in the minds of one partner. The sexual passion is ignited but not where you would expect. A clever bait-and-switch scenario is enacted and the change in role playing of its seme-uke dynamic is startling. Truly, Ms. Neko has learned the value of playing against type and knows how to keep her readers guessing. The focus shifts from romance to violence with startling force and the outcome is as unexpected as everything that has preceded it. This is a series worth reading and a writer/illustrator that bears watching. However, no one is perfect and I do have a few critiques. Ms. Neko needs to focus a little less on the bodies of her creations and more on their faces. While Lenniel and Judas have differences, when they are close together they have a curious flatness of features that renders them oddly similar. The noses also bear the same similarities. Perhaps Ms. Neko has trouble drawing nasal features. Judas's scar switches back and forth between his right and left shoulders and in its general appearance. There are also mistakes in tenses and spelling. Where were the editors when this was being printed for publication? But this is the first volume. There are bound to be improvements as Ms. Neko perseveres. I highly recommend this volume and all the others following it.

I have Sherlock Holmes Doujinshi and I liked the story and artwork. It was easy to plunder amazon for all three volumes. The story about young man, Judas, who had more than one issue like being loner who had buried stigma of person who was pushed away from his parents and having no friends either. He was also in love with his professor who was unaware of his affection. Pretty much things for one man, however there were strange dreams he was having about sex with strange man with pointed ears. Yes, there was a demon halfbreed who was craving for Judas. Lenniel was incubus who decided that Judas was his human and as incubus...well yes it was not only about the sex and for Judas it was harder and harder to refuse Lenniel, who showed to be more then sex crazed demon but who also cared and protected his human against odds. Lenniel fought off other demon who decided to steal Judas soul only to transfer it to his human soul less form. It did not happen but the reasons why the demon named Kent wanted it was unexplained until the second volume. Yes men looked like men and no willowy boys. Blood and gore included in perfect combination with decent sex scenes. The bonus story about scientist who was so deformed by the severe injuries, that he lost faith in to be ever loved. Who found his love in one of his creation who showed to have part of body of only man who ever made love to the scientist. Touchy and little tragic.
