An excellent collection of primary sources, but at more than 500 pages, it is something to graze in rather than attempt to read straight through. I particularly liked reading the "commonplaceplace book" of a reeve (where he records various facts, legends, and other bits of information, including dirty jokes and proverbs) and an account of St. Gwinefort, a greyhound which was unjustly slain by his master, and in recognition of his martyrdom the locals began to honor him as a saint, eventually developing into a cult which was accused of sacrificing infants! So sorry this one has to go back to the library. Maybe some time I'll get my own copy.
