Neat illustrations and informative! Did you know all the worker bees in a Hive are female? Some hives have up to 50k workers. On the other hand there are only about 500-1,000 drones (males) in a Hive. They live there but do no work. I come from a Mormon background which uses the beehive as a symbol for their hard work. How ironic is it that the church is patriarchal driven. The women do all the work and the men get all the glory. May the church someday accurately represent the actual beehive. The queen eats the drones and then the rest of the females go about their business.

Good starter book about the basics of honey bees--the organization of the hive and how they communicate and can make any one of the larvae into a new queen if they need, and the males do no work at all, and hives can be up to 50,000 bees, the honey we eat has been inside the bodies of at least 2 bees...Really amazing. Good photography to go with each point.
