Review # 1 was written on 2013-09-13 00:00:00 Cindy Davis A well written account of the operational use of the Supermarine Spitfire, during and after World War II. The photo illustrations were often well known shots that have appeared in many publications before, some had bizarre caption errors, but were in the main excellently reproduced and well selected. The strangest caption error is on page 96, where a photo purporting to show Me 109Fs of JG27 in North Africa is actually a still from the 1950’s movie ‘The Star of Africa’. Weird. Faults aside, I really enjoyed this book for the quality text and the great illustrations that didn’t have questionable captions – recommended to anyone keen on Spitfires.
