It's not terrible, and it's got some very, very cute pictures. It's really sloppily edited though, and some of the advice is outdated and/or incorrect (never give your hedgie raisins!). I don't think there was actually much else on the market at the time, but I'd bet that there are newer books that hew closer to what breeders and keepers recommend these days. But that hedgie on the cover! Sooooooo cute!

1. Awards the book has received: none 2. Appropriate grade levels: 1st and 2nd grade 3. Original Summary: "Baby Wolf" follows 4 newborn wolf pups on their journey to adulthood. Along the way they play and learn how to hunt and howl like mom and dad. Soon enough the baby wolves are big enough to leave the den and explore on their own. 4. Original Review: "Baby Wolf" is a great early reader for children interested in wolves or baby animals. The writing is clear without being babyish. There are facts throughout the text but the book still follows a storyline. 5. Possible in-class uses: This book could be used in a study on wolves or baby animals. I can picture this book being part of a rotating book display in the classroom when an animal unit comes up. This book can also be used as an introduction to informational texts. Since the book still follows a storyline it is easier to follow than an informational book that just lists facts.
