Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-16 00:00:00 Joe Donoghue I LOVED this book! It provides such a fascinating perspective as Andersen describes Lincoln's self-described mission as "God's humble instrument" and provides well-researched information about the religious aspect of his life. I have always loved and admired Abraham Lincoln, but I love and admire him even more and have a deeper understanding of how Lincoln was driven by his faith and belief in God. I learned many things about the decisions he made and realize more than ever what a humble, sincere, religious man he was. I would heartily recommend this book to everyone! |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-07-27 00:00:00 Chad Dean "I know there is a God, and that he hates injustice and slavery. I see the storm coming, and I know that his hand is in it. If He has a place in this work for me, and I think he has, I believe I am ready. I am nothing, but truth is everything! I know I am right, because I know that liberty is right: for Christ teaches it, and Christ is God." There is so much wisdom, humility, charity, faith and kindness in Abraham Lincoln. He is the person in history that I would want to meet. The author did a great job of highlighting the spiritual in Lincoln's life, writings, and speeches. I gave it four stars, only because it was a bit repetitive at times. But I loved so much learning about Lincoln in this way. This is what made America great. If you really want to "make America great again" then study Abraham Lincoln and follow his example. |
