Review # 1 was written on 2012-01-04 00:00:00 Daniel Lemieux A systematic and somewhat plodding analysis. Facts are mostly accurate, but the treatment is prosaic with pretensions to being 'scientific'. Some good stuff on spontaneity (first thought, best thought, etc) in relation to the writers' drug use. But as a whole this work is unsophisticated; Long's theoretical engagements with drugs, addiction, etc, are rudimentary and passé. And reading this book it's as if there hadn't been any innovations/debates in literary theory since Kerouac, Burroughs and Ginsberg published their breakthrough works. |

I guarantee you won't be disappointed! |
