Sun, Snow, & Rainbow by Ivan Bulloch is a wonderful book for beginning readers to enjoy! This book teaches young children about the four seasons using children, rhyme and animals. This is a great way to teach children about climate and what different animals do in various types of weather conditions. It also shows how some animals react to weather conditions the same way that we do. This book contains twelve pages. The left pages have images of animals (lion, penguin, bird, dog, and cat). The right pages have photos of young children dressed up in the appropriate clothing for the weather or season. Some of the children's attire matches the animal's, which I found to be very cute and creative! The colors used in the book are very vibrant and lively. I believe that using bright, and fun colors when designing children's book is a smart tactic. It will definitely grab their attention and help to get the engaged. I gave this book five stars because of its creativity, color scheme, rhythmic sentence structure and lessons. I appreciate the fact that there are different races of children represented. When reading picture books, children like to see other children or characters that look like them because they can relate in some way or another. "Penguins live in cold, cold lands. I need mittens to warm my hands" (p. 3 &4)! This was my favorite quote from Sun, Snow, & Rainbow because I can relate to the feeling of being horribly cold. I usually get cold easily. I always make sure that I wear a coat, hat, scarf and gloves during the winter months ,just like the penguin and little boy in the pictures! I see this book being used in a classroom and also at home. I would defiantly recommend this book for begin readers to read for both entertainment and education purposes.

I remember this fondly from my own childhood, and the relatable storytelling (about people we meet on public transportation) and the vivid, marker-y illustrations are still winning kids over.
