Aside from vague memories of on campus demonstrations anti-Israeli occupation of Palestine from early 2000s, I went into this book woefully ignorant. Actually, that's not quite true: I read the intriguing graphic novel duet, Best of Enemies, that incited my recent history readings but had too high a density of facts and names for me to quite grasp much of anything (I intend to go back after the current readings 'settle'). Back to this book! It's clearly written and doesn't taking sides (although perhaps lacking a bit on the history of the Palestians -- I think this can be remedied with a little delving into the years pre-WW1 into the Ottoman empire (and earlier??) ). An excellent introduction to the conflict and I only wish that it covered the last decade (since it was published). It doesn't shy from the brutal tactics of either side, so this book may not be suitable to especially young/sensitive children (despite being shelved in the children's section of the library and even sporting a few scribbles among its pages), then again, probably if they can and want to read it, it's probably alright. Definitely good for adults wanting a bite sized serving of history.

Just what I wanted, a short simple explanation of the conflict and war between the Arab people and the Israelis. Now that I have a quick overview, I can find something else that will go in to more detail.
