Review # 1 was written on 2009-03-22 00:00:00 P J ASTA 23 various essays about movement for actors. Great introductions to a variety of methods (Feldenkrais, Laban, Rasaboxes, etc, etc, etc). A mix of philosophy and practicality. I read it too fast (to finish it in time to bring in to my students this week), and my head is spinning. A LOT of language about movement. A little history, some inspiration, a lot of example exercises. Probably more useful in a classroom than a rehearsal room. Again, good introduction to various approaches, look elsewhere for in-depth studies (look for classes/ways to learn about them with your BODY - probably everyone who wrote this book would agree with that). Review # 2 was written on 2016-04-25 00:00:00 Richard Hull I read that writing in deep third is a lot like method acting, so I thought I'd read up. This is great if you plan on fully performing your work; there are exercises that use the full range of motion. However, if you're looking on just inhabiting your character's mind and voice, there are still some great tips, but you might want to focus on another aspect of the subject. |
