The only title currently out there specifically written for individuals unsure whether Landscape Architecture is the right field for them. Not Landscaping. Not Architecture. Not Gardening. Not Urban Planning. Not Urban Design. Although these are all related areas, of course. Those interested in these paths should read as well, of course. Likely we are all one & the same. But it seems Landscape Architecture is less popular. This being the only one out there for now, whereas these other said fields have other options. We begin with an overview of what exactly Landscape Architecture is (Oh, so many things). The author than proceeds to discover with us, as a guide, the current route to being a certified Landscape Architect in this country, including testing, education, continuing education, etcetera. This is a minimal aspect of the book, however, as it should be; most is dedicated to unanswered inquiries, doubts, reassurances, curiosities, and/or exploring necessary for the reader to ensure whether this really is the right field for them. One on one interviews with current employers are provided. Feels like the closest to "shadowing" one can have remotely. I especially appreciated the addressing of how they perceived themselves in comparison to architects, further details on their educational backgrounds and/or other experience. Same with students at both graduate landscape architecture (MLA) programs & undergraduate (BLA/Bachelor's) programs. This is so amazingly great, especially when they discuss specific RE: the program they are at, how they chose it, why they like it, etcetera. The author has created impressively insightful interview questionnaires. Sufficient infographics, insets are provided, as well as appendix for further research if desired by individual readers. The book is unfortunately lacking quantity of said quality data. The sample, in other words, needs to be better. An updated version could easily remedy this. More students, more universities featured, more employers, more Landscape Architects.

This book is too concerned with platitudes and too stuffed with inspirational quotes to have any substance.
