I had my chart done by a company but none of the aspects were drawn in nor was I given any interpretations, so in the end I felt like I had wasted money for a chart that was insanely over my head. That's where this book came in handy. The author, Donna Cunningham, is wonderful in breaking down astrology for the everyday person without making you feel dim-witted. As soon as I picked it up, I felt I was learning instead of sitting with an ever-growing migraine from staring at a chart I would never have understood. Donna provides us with the tools to check over the chart and make sure the times are correct and that anything that seems suspect is double-checked. After that, she shows us how to put it all together to form a picture of the person's chart. With the help of over thirteen charts (including those of some celebrities and political figures) and eight tables, you come away from this book with the confidence of an amateur astrologist.

Many times when I read for strangers, I am overwhelmed with information and sometimes wonder where to start. Cunningham breaks it down to the basic points of interest (e.g. Planets near the 4 big angles in a chart - asc, decs, MC, IC), groupings, basic aspects, clusters, etc. She also gives the tools for open ended interpretation and not just a paragraph by paragraph explanation. She lets the astrologer use the key points for their own interpretation. A wonderful book and a must have for any astrologer.
