Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-03 00:00:00 Nick Stasio Well written analysis of the the memory of reconstruction and how the memories were different, South and North and Black and White. Good analysis of the discredited Dunning School and the Lost Cause.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-10-08 00:00:00 Remo Stampfli Well researched with plenty of good information on the politics and identity of East Tennesseans leading up to Secession through Reconstruction. Great stuff on the policies and realities of military occupation by the Confederacy and then by the Union and how the local population violently reacted to that occupation and to each other.
