Review # 1 was written on 2012-09-10 00:00:00 Antonia Hauck This is a fascinating book that is useful as reference and as a study of the psychology of creative genius. Whether it is the price of that genius or some other reason the number of authors that have committed suicide is surprising. Mark Seinfelt presents a twenty-five in-depth profiles of notable authors, some of whom are well-known but not all. He complements these profiles with two chapters that briefly summarize other notable authors. He concludes his book with a chapter discussing the question noted above regarding the cause of suicides among authors. Detailed notes for each chapter and a comprehensive bibliography enhance his brief biographies. This is an excellent book to augment your knowledge of authors you probably have read.
