Review # 1 was written on 2013-05-19 00:00:00 Clay Poupart A very thoughtful and well-written book. Mr. Trotter's style of writing is very approachable yet has a perfect combination of research and personal stories. I learned so much about history of how law firms and their attorneys make money. It provides an expansive look at what it's like to work at these firms and what cost. His passion for the practice of law and his care of his colleagues clearly come through in this work. I'd like to include the last paragraph of the book to give you a sense of his approach: "The public awareness of the excesses in the legal profession and the public's growing disdain for lawyers may eventually cause the legal profession to seek to improve its image through self-reform. Many lawyers are demoralized by the atmosphere of waste, greed, and vicious competition in which they spend their working lives. If a golden past ever existed, when lawyers were admired and respected for their integrity, discipline, and restraint, we have a long way to travel to get back to that professional environment. It would be worth the trip."

Review # 2 was written on 2014-06-22 00:00:00 Thomas Vigliotti Gripping personal narratives of a variety of December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor experiences. Interesting is the thread that many of the witnesses knew by various means- through contemporaneous local newspaper stories, official orders, practice exercises, etc., the armed forces personnel knew there was likely be an imminent Japanese attack in some form -- and yet generally the fighting ships and airfields were incomprehensibly unprepared.
