I liked some of the offerings of this book. Didn't like others. Some had my laughing. Some had me horrified. Some had me salivating. Others had me thrusting down the book in disgust. So overall, it's a decent anthology. It made me feel things (not always good), but I suppose that's the point sometimes.

I was assigned this book for a book group and it was the perfect selection to span the holidays. There was no plot to follow, characters of which to keep track, all the while trying to balance holiday parties and general end-of-the-year mayhem. This was a delightful collection of poems, paintings, and short editorials that could be read, furtively, while waiting for the kids to fall asleep so Santa could crumble the cookies and fill the stockings! There were many moments of inspiration - from Pablo Neruda's poems about an artichoke and Natasha Sajé's "Creation Story" - and a few misses (think a piece about cannibals), but overall, I LOVED this book. I will keep it on my shelf in the kitchen for inspiration when I have a few moments to myself.
