Review # 1 was written on 2009-01-06 00:00:00 Nichole Allen love this book. by ideology i am rasta, pan-africanist, garveyite, etc. john moodie's 'hath the lion prevailed' is a perfect tool for anyone researching rastafarianism; it ties together the importance and influence of the kebra negast, the holy piby, and the bible, making it easy to cross-reference all three, analyzes symbolic language of color {red/gold/green}, explores the history and the prophecy which preceded H.I.M., ras makonen the man and his legacy, tribes of israel connections and all. not to mention an incredibly short, easy read. great book i pick it back up all the time |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-12-05 00:00:00 Ryan Barhorst It is amazing that after almost 75 years this book remains at the forefront of forward thinking. More than just a book, it is a manual; blue print rather for the uplifting and enlightening of a people without the common stowaway of blaming the-man as the father, author, creator, and personified of every woe upon the African American people. More amazing yet is that after 75 years the content and thermos of the book remain sound and accurate. The years may have passed but the spirit in which this book was written; the solutions that it gives; and the unequivocal wisdom that lies with in has not. This should most definitely be required reading in every high school English class across America. |
