Review # 1 was written on 2017-06-20 00:00:00 Daniel Birello A friend in my painting class recommended this book to me, and I'm glad he did. This is a good primer for how to mix paints for portraits, including skin, eyes and hair. It has different ethnic types and shades. It's a good start. You would have to play around and see if it works for what you want. I like how it illustrates how to describe shadows on the face. This is an area I need improvement on, but I am learning. I will pull this out when I want to get a good starting point for a new painting. This is a good and inexpensive addition to a painter's library.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-08-25 00:00:00 Martha Hall It's impossible to follow the instructions in the book because the author never mentions which brand of paints he is using, and the palettes offered by different brands that I found never contained all the colors he calls for. Eventually I just looked at the color swatches in the book and tried to make that color on my own, and at least it told you which colors you need to achieve to gray, to shadow, etc. you just have to figure out how to make that color on your own.
