A girl looked forward to the day when she could ride horses. One day, she got on a horse that wanted to run very fast. This scared her so badly, she did not want to ride again but her mother gave her a lucky horse charm on a necklace. She was to use it to get back on a horse and fulfill her dreams. She took lessons, and found that it took lots of practice to achieve her dreams. This is a wonderful book to teach young children that they must work and practice to have the things they desire.

This is a sweet story that will inspire young girls to work hard and believe in themselves. More so, I have a feeling that it will inspire young girls to want to learn to ride a horse. Our youngest certainly expressed a desire to take horseriding lessons after reading this story together. The illustrations are simple, but cute and the narrative is engaging. I like that the author is sure to explain that the horse charm does not actually bring the little girl luck, but reminds her of all the hard work she has put in to learn to ride horses and helps her be less afraid.
