Review # 1 was written on 2021-03-03 00:00:00 Ron Broadfoot This volume collects the stories of Mena, who fled Mexico for New York as the Mexican Revolution was about to occur. Her stories set before and during the revolution reflect on what the consequences of that event for Mexican society and also consider the role the US plays in the newly forged nation's future. The stories are unappreciated and under read, but should find a wider audience, especially among those interested in American literary history and the history of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in the US. |
