This is the second volume of Fred C Robinson's essays that Blackwell have published in recent years. Following The Tomb of Beowulf that mainly focused on interpretation of literary texts, this volume focuses on the language and editorship of Old English texts. The essays explore in detail some of Robinson's ideas on how a medieval text should be read, which for Robinson was within its manuscript context, i.e. Beowulf cannot be properly understood without reading it alongside the other texts contained in the Nowell Codex. Alongside his theories on reading texts are his ideas on how to edit texts and about using modern punctuation within the newly edited text. For anyone interested in Old English texts, their language and how editors arrive at an edited text, this is a must.

A thorough ethnography which highlights the wealth of knowledge that bilingual children have. A fundamental read for parents, teachers or anyone interested in bilingual education.
