I got the feeling I was reading a letter to a friend, lots of description of the animals, but not enough detail about the wonderful people who do this work. My one complaint about the book is that if someone didn't know who some of the main players are, it might lose its impact. I would love to find an updated edition of this book, because I wonder what has happened to some of the main characters, did all our four- footed friends find forever homes? Or have they been able to live out their lives with their first rescuers? I recommend this book to anyone who loves animals, so I guess that means I recommend this book to everybody.

Recommended read for all my friends in animal rescue! Humorous (and sometimes sad) recollections of animals and people that have passed through Kinky Friedman's Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch. Insight into how this rescue was started and how it operates.
