Genre - Horror/Thriller Publication Date - November 25, 2017 Pages - 316 Format - Kindle Stars - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 First I would like to thank Pete Kahle, owner/publisher of Bloodshot Books and an author in his own right for gifting me a digital copy of this book. Although “The Organ Donor” by Matthew Warner was originally published 15 years ago its content is still relevant today. First and foremost with the release of “The Organ Donor: 15th Anniversary Edition, the writing was stellar and the character and story development was done with what appears to be a great deal of research and attention to detail allowing the reader to go on quite an amazing journey. There is an international feel to this read dealing with organ harvesting/trafficking in Chinese Prisons, to a religious sect known as Falun Gong, to Taoism, Buddhism and a great deal of Chinese mythology and folklore. Matthew blends them all together quite well with a great deal of skill and literary craftsmanship. The pace is fast and filled to the brim with action and misadventure. There’s plenty of political intrigue and horror laced with some exciting chills and thrills. A little gory and maddening, as it should be. The Afterword is filled with lots of interesting facts and tidbits and is an interesting read on its own that will leave you thinking. As a matter of fact this entire book will leave you in a state of shock and wonderment, running to see your therapist and taking a very hot and cleansing bath, as it will leave an aroma you want to get rid of as soon as possible. Matthew Warner is author of a number of novels and short stories as well as screenplays, newspaper and magazine articles. I look forward to reading more of his work. From back cover: They knew it was wrong to purchase a kidney off the Chinese black market. But what the Taylor brothers didn’t realize was that its unwilling donor was an executed prisoner—and an immortal being from Chinese mythology. Pursuing them to Washington, DC, this ancient king will stop at nothing to recover what was once his. This special 15th anniversary edition of Matthew Warner's acclaimed first horror novel includes nearly 7,000 words of new material, including the author's riveting account of his true-life encounter with China's illegal organ trade.
