Review # 1 was written on 2017-08-12 00:00:00 Baron Cummings This is poetry which deals with Communist Mitteleurope through the eyes of someone now living in Britain. The poet's concerns are those of an exile, giving a mournful quality. And yet, Szirtes's facility with the English language (which is not, obviously, his first language) and poetical construction (he is skilled in a plethora of forms), not to mention a fatalistic outlook that finds humour in the darkest of places make these poems both unusual and unusually probing of his subject matter. I find his rhymes are always a delight - and he delights in rhyme.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-06-19 00:00:00 Kim Pickrell Delightfully entertaining. The story of a fox-hunt in England, feels and smells English, all the weird British geographic descriptors (what the heck's a 'copse'?), makes you feel either on the hunt or on the run. Some parts hilariously funny, some parts tense and nerve-wracking. Run, little fox, run! And some really great parts were where he would describe the fox 'seeing' scents, as foxes have great sense of smell. ETA I found Disney made a short about fox hunting, which is basically the same thing. And some of the people in this poem do talk very much like Donald.
