Finally, the murder of Dr. Brandt is solved! I say it every time, but this series is just the best. The character development in this book was so great - I loved learning more about Maeve and having her step up as a main character. I know there are only good things to come with this series and I can't wait to read them all! Good thing I accidentally maybe purchased all the books already😬

Number 10 and another really enjoyable book in the Gaslight Mystery series. At last Frank manages to solve the mystery of the murder of Sarah's husband. I liked the inclusion of Pinkerton agents which was an effective, historical touch. This author is really good at including genuine historical details in her writing which always makes her books such fun to read. I have to admit to a slight disappointment in the treatment of Sarah's character in this book. Towards the end she suddenly changes from her normal sensible, stalwart self, starts to panic and risks upsetting all the work Frank, Maeve and Allie have undertaken. Maybe she is better when she is included in the case rather than being an observer as she is in this one. Still a totally absorbing and entertaining book with a little hint at the end which might make us hope for a growth in the romantic attachment between our main characters.
