This book feels like more of a long essay than a full-length book. At 86 pages, it can easily be read in one sitting. I actually feel as though I overpaid for this book because of its incredibly short length, as I've read 300+ page novels that cost the same or less than double the cost of this book. It also had enough typos and misused words that it became distracting. The author does not speak English as his first language and he should have used a professional editor other than his wife to fix the grammatical errors he made in translating the book from Spanish into English. With that being said, I did find some of the points in the book interesting. I did at times feel that the author explained things I felt personally in a very eloquent and clear manner. There are a few notable quotes such as "If I am right and there is no god, the issue is not about what happens when you die but what you might lose while you are alive." He also describes the strange phenomena of religious thankfulness in a very approachable way. He asks: "After 10 interviews you get the position you wanted. You thank God for that. What happened in the first nine interviews? Was God busy working in other cases." This exactly mirrored my personal experience with a religious family member who prayed and prayed for a promotion for years and continually was passed over by people he felt were less qualified (which is probably true, but he refuses to play by the rules of office politics). When he finally got promoted some three years later, God was the one who got the credit. I never understood that and Mr. Miranda was able to articulate what I couldn't - why I felt that way. All in all I would recommend this book for anyone who is trying to understand atheism and freethought as well as the newly deconverted who are seeking ways to articulate their non-belief to their faith-driven friends and family. However, I don't recommend paying the list price on this one because it is just too short and roughly edited to merit the full asking price.

This book really put a lot of my own thoughts into words. Things that I had been thinking and feeling really came together after reading this book. It was short and sweet and really helpful.
