Review # 1 was written on 2020-09-26 00:00:00![]() The relationship between the photographer given full access to the USA's President and the President himself is one of trust and intimacy. Thus, this book is focused on the "intimate" but it also has iconic photos such as LBJ taking the oath of office on Air Force One after John F. Kennedy's assassination. You might suspect that this would not be the case for the USA's current President. That suspicion would be validated by this article. "Donald Trump's presidency is not normal, and neither is the way it's being photographed." I am glad that this book got published. It remains to be seen if future Presidents will insist on micro-managing photography the way the current occupant had done. History will be loser. |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-01-07 00:00:00![]() Interesting. Several photographers' pictures are featured and the narrative tells how the photographers were treated by each president. Had to be very close relationships between the photographer and the president to get feel so at ease and to get such intimate pictures. |
