This is a very quick read with some good basic information about why some Muslims do not participate in music and some Muslims do; what sorts of activities might be more acceptable to parents and students; and some interesting info about how the British school system works! Although there are no easy answers about this topic, and this book offers none, it was a worthwhile read for anyone who is muddling through teaching music to students who feel it is useless or even forbidden. Most of the information presented was easily adaptable to the US, although our rules about religious toleration and religion in schools make some solutions (like using nasheeds) unlikely here. The chapter on Harris's travels to schools in predominantly Muslim areas was particularly interesting; likewise the interviews with Muslim men and women with different opinions about music and Islam.

This was a wonderful book about one of my favorite subjects, chocolate! There were neat facts about it all throughout as well as inspirational Bible verses and touching stories. I highly recommend this to someone who needs a little lift but doesn't have a lot of time to devote to a long book.
