I'm really treading into fresh story now, stuff I never saw before from Mixed Vegetables. I'm excited~. As Hayato continues to encourage Hanayu to follow her heart and keep her determination strong, things get a little escalated. Hayato spends hours and bunches of ingredients and thought and effort (and love, heh) recreating all these tamago recipes for Hanayu to try, trying to help her remember which one might be the one from her memories, the one she misses so much, the one from the experience which birthed her dream to become a sushi chef. Finally, after having run out of basically all ideas for different recipes suiting her description of the memory of the flavor of that special tamago, he makes one last one with his family's recipe. Because they're friends, so why shouldn't she try it? He felt proud to serve it to her, though unexpectedly, that was the one from her long ago memories. Right away (after cleaning up and locking up), they rush off to his family's sushi shop, where she sees and recognizes his father. That sushi shop from so long ago, where her dream was made, the shop she thought so long lost, it was found once again, not only that but it was the one she tried marrying into! The one that has been around this whole time. Hayato's father remembers her too. It appears that they share a tiny, small bond (which is teased about both by himself and his apprentice). She's offered an apprenticeship and job at the shop, once they've talked a little and she tells them of her dream. But she wants to ask permission first from her family, so she does that...and it ends horribly. But not wanting to continue to hurt the people around her that she cares about, Hanayu keeps her upset feelings and anguish bottled up inside so that Hayato won't see, neither will her family. But it's obviously beginning to cause a rift in her family. I never noticed before how cookie cutter perfect her family was, until she told them she didn't want to take over the bakery. Everyone is hurt. Her little brother's dreams are dashed and suddenly he feels guilty that he feels he's forced his sister to have to bear all this weight and grin and bear it all this time. Her father feels a little betrayed and taken aback, feeling as though all the time they spent as a family over baking, that she didn't enjoy any of it, and none of it meant anything to her, or at least, it didn't mean what he thought it did. Not really sure how her mother is feeling, she was honestly just kinda there, her demeanor didn't really change at all. I'm sure she's just trying to support everyone. Of course, despite Hanayu trying to hide it, Hayato still notices her anguish. AND THEN, it's impossible to go unnoticed when she runs out of her house one night only to end up at Hyuga Sushi, craving support and validation. Hayato tells her she needs to go back home, but she can "bother him all that she wants, but that's not why". (He was so tired and so done at the beginning of this scene and then he spends probably until 3am supporting her and doing things for her. He definitely loves her). Hayato's father does something, well, fatherly for her. It becomes a little plot element. I won't spoil everything. But this does remind me just how important family is and should be. Hayato takes Hanayu back home, claiming to his parents he's spending the night (he's just intending to stay over for a while, however long it takes for things to be okay), though he eventually goes back home after Hanayu has fallen asleep, and Hayato has had some personal words and a heart to heart with her father. It seems that everything and most of all, his meeting with Hayato and what Hayato decided to give him (and keep secret from Hanayu) changed her father's mindset enough to accept her and support her, even if he's still hurt and now at a loss for an heir. Thanks to Hayato, everything has been fixed for Hanayu, things are okay again. A little rocky, but they'll be okay. Though I don't think anything will ever be the same in their household, but it was all so sugarcoated before... Things were bound to get spoiled, I suppose. And now it's Hayato's turn to work up the courage to tell his parents of his dream. He asks Hanayu for her full support, as he's given her his up 'til now. She gladly agrees, of course. This duo is just... I love them, okay? Aahhh. Oh, and Hanayu is able to start working at Hyuga Sushi too! I love that~. I also love Hayato's mother and father and their apprentice. All great characters (though no character in this is super fleshed out and they're all roughly the same, I still like 'em). Hayato looks so hot in his work uniform, UNF. Is what Hanayu is thinking~, and I do agree. She imagines him looking FINE AF like his dad when he gets older, heh~. I think she'd like to marry him, she keeps imagining it now. Oh, also... Hayato told Hanayu's father the only real reason he isn't so interested in dating or marrying Hanayu is because their dreams clash, so it wouldn't be possible for them to work out. Buuuut, that being the only reason, that's tactical thinking. It's possible he still loves her, yeah? Or loves her at all. Whatever. Blah. Well, she's finally fessed up to her feelings for Hayato both to herself and to her best friend Ichii, but where do we go from here? ... Hopefully somewhere. PLEASE. We're like, 35% done with the series. Please, FUCKING DATE AGAIN. There's way for those two to work out, they just need to find it. But of course, other things are more important right now~. Oh, also, it's attractive how well Hanayu handles herself with grimy old drunk customers, and I think the Hyugas think so too. So cute how literally all four of them were ready to beat some ass though, even Hayato was embarrassingly holding up a daikon radish like a bat, ready to pounce, blushing and hiding his face in the back. SO FUKING CUTE UGH P.S. This manga is really making me wanna get a seasonal part-time job at a sushi place as host or sushi chef, or SOMETHING. AGH

This is where the story really picks up and the humor is spot on! I really enjoy Hyuga's father and I especially enjoy how he and Saki pick on Hayato. Hanayu is an admirable and tough female, I'm just glad that she is tough enough to handle certain types of customers without having to depend on men saving her. The author note pages are super funny and adorable.
