Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-16 00:00:00 Rob Gardiner As a teacher, I have referenced Getting Started with English Language Learners, for years, and even incorporated it into lectures. It brims with generosity and hospitality towards English Language Learners and their family members. Very practical advice is provided for teachers, such as how to decorate classrooms, set up resource rooms for parents, and understand diverse cultural gestures. It even gives tips for the different fields of math, science, social studies, and language arts. Thank you, Judie Haynes and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), which published this book! |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-06-19 00:00:00 Nicole Walley This is a good book for teachers who are becoming certified to teach ELL and for principals who have little understanding of teaching ELLs. It provides a general overview of concepts you need to understand. It is a fast read. |
