Review # 1 was written on 2012-09-03 00:00:00 Warren Bonner Set on a Caribbean island that is clearly Trinidad by another name, this is the story of a poor community in a post-independence ex-colony where government corruption blights the lives of poor people. It is a well-written story that ticks the boxes of human interest and political protest that are the common themes of post-colonial literature. I quite enjoyed it, but didn't find it particularly original or profound in its content. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-03-31 00:00:00 Matthew Blair Brenda was my professor...this was her first novel. It's not bad. |
