Review # 1 was written on 2014-02-18 00:00:00 Main Lao I've read the complete Poe, and sometimes like to come back to this particular audio collection. Not only is it nearly all of his most famous tales, but this production is superbly narrated. Of the minimum half-dozen narrators I've heard of Poe's stories, including Vincent Price and Basil Rathbone, nobody is better or (in my opinion) even as good as Jack Foreman in this collection very early in the Recorded Books catalog. He nails the terror without going overboard as well as the subtle humor. Just a shade under 5 hours, this is a great audiobook! |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-05-25 00:00:00 Catherine Oconnell "Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence- whether much that is glorious- whether all that is profound- does not spring from disease of thought- from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect." |
