Every 20-something entry-level disillusioned "special snowflake" needs to read this book. Like, now. Immediately. Stop what you're doing and read it. And I'm not trying to be all judgmental when I say "special snowflake". I too thought that life would go the way I planned after college, that my degree would be worth more than a handful of funny stories from back in the "college days", and that my student loans, while massive, would at least be in the process of going down using the money I earned at the profession I worked my ass of in college to be a part of. Alas. Two years after college, I am an assistant in an industry that isn't even remotely related to my field of study. And I know I'm not alone here. In fact, I'm one of the lucky "special snowflakes" that actually got a job at all that doesn't involve retail, part time, the word "barista" or doing chores for my parents. And I'm grateful, believe me, after all the horror stories I hear. My job is great. But it certainly ain't what I signed up for. This book is the voice of a thousand "special snowflakes" who all grew up in the generation that taught us life was more than this, only to find out it actually isn't. It's still about paying your dues, starting at the bottom, working your ass off, and trying to meet the right people. Nothing comes for free. I learned a lot from this book, but most of it I already suspected just from being out in the "real world" for a few years. You need to do the absolute best at whatever you're doing now, whether it's being an assistant, being a barista, or being a homeless guy. Just work like crazy at it. Don't sit there in an entitled bubble whining about the glory days of college. That advice is so sound, so simple, so practical, but so many of us miss it. The book also offers some other survival tips, but the overarching theme is just to get off your high horse and do your life, however it looks, in the best way you possibly can. That, I can do. Highly recommended reading for anyone who is even remotely disappointed with life.

I thought it was humor, but it really is a self-help guide.
