This book was very well written. It shocked me however that this book has great religious undertones. God is mentioned several times in this book so I'm not sure if one would use it in a public school classroom but definitely in a Sunday School Class. That being said, the book is mainly about friendship and how a scarecrow comes to be friends with a spider. The pictures in this book are well done and add to the text. The text also is great throughout and really compliments the pictures. My favorite part of the book is when the scarecrow notices the spider's web and admires its beauty. Without pictures, the reader can get an idea of how nice the web is. I would recommend this book to teachers and parents that are struggling to explain to their children to be accepting of everyone, no matter their appearance. For Sunday School TEachers, this book would be great because it lets children know that God is always with them. Very good picture book.
