Review # 1 was written on 2014-05-13 00:00:00 Matthew Sutton I disagree with the reviewer who said this book "needed an editor." Quite the opposite, Markus's prose style falls exactly between lightweight-journalist breeziness and clunky academic-ese, which is a difficult but crucial balance to strike in a book of this kind. If you have read Froude (or plan to read him) and want to know a bit of background about the man himself, this book will suit your needs perfectly. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-05-27 00:00:00 Ed Minjares I had never heard of Froude before. This book badly needed an editor--it was repetitous and badly paced. The man really was rather interesting, but it was hard work to find it out. |
