Review # 1 was written on 2018-08-15 00:00:00 Jean Remi Rouch This book isn't necessarily amazing, and I don't think I'd recommend it in general. However, for the Microsoftie that wasn't around in the 90s, Julie gives simple explanations for a whole lot of Microsoftisms and culture. Managing your manager, meetings, interviews, organisational politics, leading, and so on are defined with clear examples. The jokes about being overworked aren't exactly accurate anymore, but I found the section on being a good boss particularly helpful. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-02-12 00:00:00 Ned Burns Loved it - I am a former Microsoftie myself, and it's absolutely true that you learn at a faster clip at MS than you do at many other companies. Julie made me laugh more than once remembering the culture. Lots of practical advice for anyone, despite being somewhat dated now! |
