Review # 1 was written on 2018-12-08 00:00:00 Douglas Massell I can't rate this book as I just read 3 of the many sections in this that represent different authors' work. What I did read was quite good though, probably a 3 or 4 star rating. I read Ted Sexhauer's account of being a medic in Vietnam and his work after Vietnam as a peace activist, Gary Gach's story about his relationship with his father and Maxine Hong Kingston's introduction. If I had more time and fewer other books I wanted to read I'd read more of these sections as they are deep and rich in how to navigate violence, your relationship to others and your country when it comes to tough questions like the military draft and more. |
Review # 2 was written on 2007-03-05 00:00:00 Berry Eisen 1) honest and real critique of wars that occurred in the 20th century and the current Iraq War 2) urgent, immediate, poignant 3) i coedited this anthology 4) my first publication "Butterfly" but i'm biased with this one. it's special to me. |
