Angelina Stone is a young woman who must recover from a brutal attack and overcome her fears in this Civil War romance. She is rescued by an enemy Union soldier and secretly admires him even after the war is over. Although she thinks their paths will never cross again, she ends up unknowingly accepting a teaching position in his hometown. Angel and the Enemy is my favorite kind of romance. It is filled with history, an admirable hero, romantic tension, a difficult situation that must be overcome and a happy ending. The way the lives of Angelina, Elijah and Everett intercepted was creative. This book has the feel of a Marcia Lynn McClure book without some of the cheesy, over-the-top moments (I'm a big fan of MLM and say that only as a comparison not as a criticism of her writing). This one is going on my keeper shelf!

I love the history and the love story this holds. A girl of a confederate soldier falls in love with a union soldier who invades her home. I simply love this story.
