Who writes long letters these days? In the good old, things were a little bit slower and you had time to put your thoughts to paper. Love can strike in some unexpected places and none of this ignoring society in the 'good old days'. Barnes Wallis knew that Mary Bloxham was for him, even with the age difference, but he was patience and worked hard to win the love of his life. 50 year marriage proved he was right. The book is the correspondence of how Barnes wooed his love and overcome his father his father-in-law. By teaching her mathematics via his letters he show his devotion and overcame all the barriers in front of him. Mary Stopes-Roe is the editor of this correspondence, she no stranger to barriers of love uses a light hand. Highly enjoyable and re-learn all those old maths courses I took.

This book I had to purchase for my online math class. It was very informative and is highly recommended.
