This is a five-star read if you're a proud New Jerseyan, but I figured I'd try to take away some of my bias. Even to the outsider, this is still a really great little historical read. I think the best way to learn history is by reading from different angles, and Mr. Farner will undoubtedly reveal some things you'd never even heard of while providing interesting information on some of the more popular events in U.S. history.

Mainly a history of the rich and famous of West Virginia. Expected since this book was prepared for the Nation's bicentennial. I prefer histories that delve into the common man's adversities. He did some of this but not enough. He could have gone into more detail about the mine wars. I just felt that he missed an opportunity. I was part of the great migration. He left many unanswered questions.
