Review # 1 was written on 2021-08-18 00:00:00 Eric Pettigrew This book is an excellent demonstration of how incompatible capitalism is with liberation theology. The author goes to great lengths to seemingly defend the institutions of capitalism and private property and therefore makes at least half of the book qualifications of neoliberal enterprise and distortions of socialism under the guise of describing the political expression of religion. The author both seems to not understand Marxism as well as be hostile towards socialism. It is a bumbling work that does poor justice to understanding liberation theology for it at bottom rejects the theses of liberation. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-12-23 00:00:00 Nina Schjnsby I think both Cohen and Strauss didn't take Spinoza seriously/literally enough, as old Strauss admitted in the preface. The real addressee of both Cohen and Strauss, however, is Moses Mendelssohn. |
