Review # 1 was written on 2014-03-13 00:00:00 Paul Houston I've been going through this book while working at the Harvard Map Collection. The old views of San Francisco are fascinating and the historical vignettes that accompany them do a good job of explaining how the city took shape over the years, from Yerba Buena to the modern metropolis.

Review # 2 was written on 2016-06-27 00:00:00 Lynda Johnson An excellent collection of San Francisco maps, historical to contemporary, combined with a detailed history of The City. My only complaint is that this book isn't larger, making the maps easier to see.
