The documentary about Fr. Peyton, Pray, is excellent! Movies of this sort rarely make a big splash, but this one was doubly hindered by COVID. More is the pity because this man deserves to be rediscovered by a new generation. Although my early years overlapped his later ones, I still had NO idea all this amazing man had done, nor the influence* he had, especially during the middle years of his life (1940s - 1960s) with scores of Rosary rallies as well as big name Hollywood stars plugging prayer on his radio/television programs. Sadly, by the 70s he was on the defensive as the culture turned against him. This book does not go into his life, but includes MANY of his wonderful Rosary reflections, which are unique in that they are thematic. In one, for example: The Joyful Mysteries are about The Church, The Sorrowful focus on The Pharisees and The Glorious take you into The Reign of God. It is not an exaggeration to assert Fr. Peyton will take you places in your Rosary meditations you have not been before. As he was writing these before the Luminous Mysteries were a part of the Rosary, they are an addition at the end of the book, a compilation from his other writings. Although I am shelving this book as read, that is simply to let readers know of its value. For our own Rosary purposes, it will remain in our actively-reading/praying Rosary Library. An all-time favorite for sure! I am not even sure we have used all the reflections in the book yet. There are so many! 300+ pages! *I had the bumper sticker with that slogan, The Family That Prays Together Stays Together on the van I owned for 17 years! Never had any problems with that vehicle while I drove it. My husband backed it into some wires and other people dinged it up and I got pulled over for a rear tail light out once (no ticket just a nice reminder), but otherwise years of safe driving. Gave it to our oldest daughter to drive to high school. She was embarrassed driving a mom-mobile except that it was 'wheels'. Her boy friend drove it into a ditch and it was totaled, but they were fine. I always felt the power of prayer watching over that vehicle. My current vehicle has a bumper sticker which reads, "Pray the Rosary for America!" God bless you Fr. Peyton!

Excellent and beautiful meditations, has deepened my understanding of Christ and what it means to be his disciple
