Review # 1 was written on 2021-01-06 00:00:00 Jonathan Wilkerson Traumatic in places but held my interest Emmie, the daughter of a prostitute, is determined not to follow in her mother's footsteps but she has reckoned without the pressures from the small community she ends up in. Automatically tarred with the same brush, she fights a seemingly endless battle to break free of the stigma and win the opportunity to choose her own path and ultimately to be with the man she loves. I found some of the sexual violence and passions a little over the top. They weren't especially graphic but just relentless and a little disturbing. It's frightening to think what the rich and powerful were able to get away with.... A tale worth reading but may upset some sensitive readers. There is some bad language and as mentioned sexual violence.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-04-16 00:00:00 James Lee Emmy and Jack Another spellbinding book from Anna Jacobs it has it all adventure abduction and murder love and happiness . Emmy grew up with her mam as a prostitute but wanted a better life for herself in that she found Jack Staley but there love wasn't easy .5 STARS a great read .
