Review # 2 was written on 2017-01-14 00:00:00 William Raiman I liked to consult this book when my children were young. I didn't try too many of the natural remedies, but I definitely tried a few. For the most part, they were nice to try to bring comfort to a child suffering from congestion, the chicken pox, teething, nausea or other discomforting but not serious complaints. I always felt like it was the remedy plus the loving care and time devoted to the child that helped the child feel better. If one wants to avoid over -the-counter medicines and is looking for something to do to help a child feel better, this is a good resource. I wish there was some feedback on the effectiveness of the remedies or cautions to consider. For example, I once had pennyroyal on hand because it was a recommended essential oil to stock and was used in a number of the remedies. Once when I was pregnant, I wanted to try a pennyroyal lice treatment, but I couldn't find my bottle of pennyroyal. That was a Godsend because I later learned that pennyroyal is dangerous to use in pregnancy as it is used to cause abortions so that is a problem with this book. In its listing and description of the recommended herbs, no cautions are given. Bottom line: I found this book helpful and plan to keep it for that reason. However, if I use any of the remedies in the future, I plan to research the ingredients online first.
