Review # 1 was written on 2008-10-12 00:00:00 Martha Martz An absolutely fantastic book. This is a must read for people that are engaging with vulnerable children. While most books will focus on a given issue or base a lot of the writing off of opinion, Wells covers a myriad of issues and poses them within the larger context of child saving, child's rights, globalization, capitalism and liberal philosophy. Each chapter is eye-opening and feels as though the veil is being pulled back on some of these issues to expose what is really going on and why. I could not recommend this book higher and I look forward to reading through it again. I learned way too much to squeeze into a Goodreads review, it's just a must read for children advocates. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-06-19 00:00:00 Sunny Bhullar Interesting analysis and broad coverage of various global issues of childhood and how societies address them. Some of it was challenging to my assumptions or beliefs. Very academic book. |
