Review # 1 was written on 2016-12-31 00:00:00 Farhan Khan mostly uplifting with one fly in the ointment to me anyway- the comparison of family trees -when really the only one we should keep our eyes on is the Root of Jesse. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-07-18 00:00:00 Tom Yeo Apologies to my eldest granddaughter who gave this to me as a gift, but this little book has endured the bookshelf for about six years! A dear friend once told me not to worry about books sitting on the shelf for awhile, that when the time is right the book will "present" itself. This is a lovely collection of stories about grandparents & grandkids, although a good number seem to be simply only about older folks & living a useful life. The author, Robert Strand, has been a best-selling pioneer in gift book publishing since the 1980's, and has authored some 58 titles. Grandfather himself to eight children, Strand was a senior pastor for 37 years in the Midwest, before taking up writing & speaking, and has been listed in editions of Who's Who in Religion in America. It's not surprising, then, that there is a religious tone to many of this book's stories, as well as a Scriptural quote, along with a secular one, at the end of each selection. |
